Solar Energy

To save electricity, and to contribute towards the reduction of global warming, Tambankulu has recently been a pioneer and one of the first sugar producers in Eswatini to install a large solar energy unit. These solar panels are sufficient to supply the full electricity base load (offices, housing, and workshops) required by the estate, other than needed for irrigation.

The solar plant project was started as an initiative of moving towards green energy as solar power generates far less pollution than power does when it is produced or consumed. As Tambankulu Estates we understand that expanding solar power and decreasing reliance on fossil fuels, would result in reduced carbon emission. The main advantage of solar energy is that it uses natural resources (the sun) that do not run out and has no negative impact on the environment. While the traditional energy sources of fossil fuels by comparison, produces a huge amount of carbon emissions and pollutants and cause climate change and pollution.

It should be noted that the solar project is still on going. The solar plant does not produce enough energy to sustain the whole company yet, that is why the company still import some of its electricity from SEC as show in the diagram.
